Forty-two down, and only a few more left now. We are officially in the home stretch here, so hold on just a bit longer with us, and we promise that it’ll all be worth it in the end (if it hasn’t been proven to you already).
From this list thus far, which state sandwich has surprised you? Let’s talk!
Next up, let’s travel to Texas and Utah!
43. Texas
Sandwich: Torta Ahogada
Where to Enjoy: El Chivito
What is a Torta Ahogada? It’s a lot of different things, and from the looks of this all, it seems to be just yet a bunch of deliciousness in between some breads, tortillas, or whatever else your true foodie heart desires. Here’s what it’s made of:
- Crusty sourdough bread
- Stuffed with freshly made and seasoned carnitas meat
- Fresh (and super orangey-red) chile de arbol sauce
The whole idea of this sandwich comes from the likes of Jalisco, Mexico, where its flavors and concepts had originated years and years back. It’s a true Texas favorite. Don’t live near El Chivito? Try Ro-Ho Pork and Bread out for size as well! Or try both! Don’t worry, we don’t judge.
*Please keep Texas in your thoughts and prayers during this time and consider supporting businesses that are still open, or consider helping them out with whatever they need for support!*

44. Utah
Sandwich: Ribeye Steak Sandwich
Where to Enjoy: Crown Burger
This has since become one of Salt Lake City’s most iconic meals and eating establishments alike. While a photo of the Ribeye Steak Sandwich was unable to be located, above is a picture of their second most popular sandwich that they offer: a burger with pastrami laced on top. What could go wrong?
If you’re still looking for the steak sandwich instead, it’s cooked to order, however you’d like it to be cooked, and completely customizable. Whatever you want on it, they got it. Go show them some love!
