Hell’s Kitchen: Why hasn’t Jordan been sent home yet?

Someone needs to explain to me why Hell’s Kitchen Season 19 contestant Jordan is still on the cooking competition. Because I really don’t understand why she hasn’t been sent back to Texas already.

A brief recap: Last week Jordan was put up for elimination by Chef Gordon Ramsey himself because he disagreed with the Red Team’s choice of sending Kori up for elimination. As a result this week Jordan spent the majority of the first few minutes of the episode telling anyone who would listen she’s didn’t deserve to be up there. And I mean everyone. I think she might have said something to the camera crew once or twice.

The thing is, good chefs don’t need to tell people how good they can cook. They let the food speak for itself. Jordan does not fall into that category.

In any event, in Thursday’s episode Jordan was once again put up for elimination with Lauren. This was after dinner service was cancelled and Niki had to decide who would be up for elimination on the Red team after winning the first challenge.

Jordan should be a better chef if she’s a contestant on Hell’s Kitchen.

Both had to make a dish using the same ingredients, one of which was filet mignon. Neither made a strong dish but while Lauren’s was slightly (and I mean slightly) underdone, Jordan sliced her fillet.

For those who may not know, you never, and I mean never, slice a filet mignon. You let the customer do that. It is considered a meat sin in the foodie world. But for some reason, it wasn’t enough and Ramsey sent Lauren home, letting Jordan live for another week.

My question is why? What does Ramsey see in her that the rest of us don’t? Because this isn’t the first, second or even fifth time Jordan has screwed up and cost her team.

When a season of Hell’s Kitchen gets to this point usually the weaker chefs have already been sent home. Some of the chefs that may be left are probably jerks and incredibly unlikeable, but at least they can cook. In Jordan’s case she isn’t likable at all and obviously can’t cook well enough to be Head Chef at Hell’s Kitchen in Lake Tahoe, much less a McDonald’s in Lake Tahoe.

Instead, Jordan spends much of her time blaming everyone for her mistakes and taking zero responsibility. At 29 years old, she should not only be more mature than that but honestly a better chef.

Next week brings a new Hell’s Kitchen and a new set of challenges and hopefully Ramsey will see that he is wasting his time with Jordan. There are better, more talented chefs he should be focused on at this stage in the competition.
