Dunkin’ has been quiet when it comes to chicken sandwiches. However, this may be changing. As reported by Chewboom, Dunkin’ is testing its own take on a chicken sandwich.

The new Chicken Croissant Sandwich is everything you might expect from Dunkin’. Instead of a fried chicken sandwich on a bun with mayo and pickles, Dunkin’ gives us a breaded chicken filet to go with cherrywood-smoked bacon and topped with American cheese.

The sandwich is placed in between a Dunkin’ buttery croissant. The croissant is in the Dunkin’ playbook for elevating a sandwich such as when they first came out with the sweet pepper bacon sandwich. Dunkin’ will also utilize the croissant to help make an intended lunch or snack sandwich feel like less of a breakfast sandwich.

While the Chicken Croissant Sandwich does not include any type of mayo or sauce on the sandwich, there is a way to keep your sandwich from getting too dry. In some locations, the sandwich is served with a side of Buttermilk Ranch Sauce. This may the perfect condiment for a breaded chicken sandwich with bacon. It might not work as well with a flaky croissant, but we will have to see.

I was able to get my hands on one of the new Chicken Croissant Sandwich and it was good by Dunkin’ standards. I was not offered the Buttermilk Ranch Sauce and the sandwich needed it. It is not a juicy chicken filet and although this is partially saved by the soft and flaky croissant, a moisture-adding element would have been nice.

Although I enjoyed the sandwich, the biggest takeaway is the lack of crisp from anything other than the croissant. The chicken and bacon were not fried as much as heated so both were still a bit soft. I’d eat it again, but not before some of the other chicken sandwich options.

Dunkin’ has not released the new sandwich nationwide as yet. It has been spotted at Dunkin’ locations in New England, Florida, Tennessee, and North Carolina. Prices may vary, but it was spotted for $4.29 in Florida. I was able to get it for $4.19 here in Massachusetts. Hopefully, everyone can try it very soon.
