It’s no secret that each region of the country has their own unique twist on certain foods, as well as some other foods that are unique to one state alone. Food is a universal language that we all know and speak very well, especially here at Guilty Eats!
Food brings us all together, brings us around the table, and helps us connect with each other, no matter where we live.
Whether it’s comfort food, healthier options, or something straight up in between, we’ve got ya covered here. Let’s take a look at some of the best, most uniquely delicious foods that come from each of our fifty home states. All sorts of foods are on this list, so it’s for sure that no matter what your food preferences have, you’ll find something new (or an old fave) to love on this list.
Which must-try food from this list will be your new favorite? Let’s all talk food!
Some dishes may not look the greatest, but we don’t always have to eat with our eyes first. Sometimes taste overrides an ugly-looking dish, and sometimes it’s the other way around, to be fair.
Now, let’s get onto the list! Hopefully, this doesn’t make you too hungry. If it does, find your state, and go get yourself some delicious food! Problem solved!
1. Alabama
Food Item/Food Dish: Chicken and White BBQ Sauce
Where to Enjoy: Big Bobb Gibson Bar-B-Q
Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Q is the most iconic place where you can get this down in Alabama, also claiming to have actually invented the white bbq sauce themselves, back in 1925. Their white bbq sauce is so iconic to their food, that you can rarely find it anywhere outside of the state!
While I’ve never tried something like this before, if I can’t find it in my home state, I might just have to travel to Alabama to get some for myself.

2. Alaska
Food Item/Food Dish: Smoked Salmon
Where to Enjoy: Alaska Sausage and Seafood Market
Sure, we’ve all heard of smoked salmon, as it is very readily available in just about every state out there. Smoked salmon has been around for ages, and is a classic in a Lox & Bagel Sandwich that you can find in many Jewish Delis or even at a classic favorite of Einstein’s Bagel Bros.
Back to Alaska now….where is the best place to get some smoked salmon? Why don’t you try out the Alaska Sausage and Seafood Market out in Anchorage? It’s a fan-favorite where their smoked salmon is often smoked for more than seven hours….yum!
