Food Item/Food Dish: Cincinnati Chili

Where to Enjoy: Camp Washington

When you see or hear the word ‘chili’ you probably think of some beans, ground meat, maybe some stewed or diced tomatoes and green chiles. However you make it, chili is just one of those delicious foods that everyone knows and loves. But….have you had Cincinnati Chili? Probably not (like me), but I’m dang sure wishing that I have. Here’s what it is:

  • Minced meat-based chili sauce (mildly-spiced)
  • Poured over some coney dogs
  • Served on top of some giant platters of spaghetti
  • Toppings are preference-based, such as the following: finely shredded cheddar cheese, or the works, which consists of cheese, onions, and (of course) even more beans

Food Item/Food Dish: Onion Burger

Where to Enjoy: Tucker’s Onion Burgers

Quick little fun fact here about the origins of the great ole onion burgers: they originated or first came to be during the Great Depression whenever ground beef was super expensive. As a filler, one man who was really craving burgers and still wanted to eat them, decided to add in onions in order to compensate for some of the lacking ground beef quantities that were of existence during that time(s).
