So far, we’ve traveled to sixteen different states, and seen sixteen different unique and delicious foods per each of the states thus far. Again, each state has it’s own ‘twang’ to it, it’s very own ‘je ne sais quoi’, if you will.

Which special must-try state food has made your mouth water the most thus far?

Next up: let’s travel to Kentucky and Louisiana for some more added deliciousness!

17. Kentucky

Food Item/Food Dish: Bourbon Balls

Where to Enjoy: Rebecca Ruth Candy

Kentucky Bourbon Balls are made all over the place, even in places other than Kentucky itself, actually. However, if you want the real stuff, the most authentic Kentucky Bourbon Balls at your fingertips, then be sure to give Rebecca Ruth Candy a visit on your next stop on over there.

Essentially, if you’re not so familiar with them, Bourbon Balls go something like this: chocolate candies, a super boozy, gooey center in the middle, topped with a whole entire pecan right smack dab in the middle of the little tipsy chocolate gem. Now, what about that doesn’t sound good? I’ll wait….

18. Louisiana

Food Item/Food Dish: Gumbo

Where to Enjoy: Hambone

Now, I know what everyone’s thinking: what about beignets? Why isn’t Louisiana’s must-try food a beignet? Well, those are absolutely done to death, so let’s talk about something that’s just as delicious, if not more, and certainly deserves all the hype and attention that the little dough squares deserve nonetheless.

Over at Hambone, their classic Louisiana gumbo consists of the following: cajun-style stew with a creamy roux-base, with the Pope (a whole head of garlic) and the Holy Trinity (green bell peppers, onions, and celery). Delish, delish, delish, and de-lish! Am I right, or am I right?!

*Note: In the above video, there wasn’t an actual dish from Hambone itself, so there’s someone recreating the Disney version from The Princess and the Frog, which is basically the same!*
