Why is McDonald’s closing hundreds of its Walmart locations?

A source is reporting that McDonald’s locations at Walmart will soon be a thing of the past. Why are these shutting down? Here’s what we know?

Remember walking into Walmart with your parents and immediately begging for a Happy  Meal? Good times! A  Walmart store near me still has a McDonald’s inside, but that may not be the case for long.

I’ll admit that, other than a coffee, I don’t stop by McDonald’s when I go to Walmart. In fact, I can’t even remember the last time I  went inside a Walmart store. Since the pandemic, grocery curbside pick up became the thing to do and I can never go back!

Grocery curbside pick-up is so convenient and all I case to do. That and Amazon Fresh. This could very well be one of the many reasons McDonald’s has decided to shut down its stores. Simply put, these are not bringing in the profits they used to.

Walmart isn’t filling the void, though, with other fast food chains! Here’s what the source shared.

According to Food & Wine, the fast food chain has already begun the process of closing many of its locations. Hundreds. Many shoppers have been surprised not to find McDonald’s, as many were so used to seeing it inside, whether or not they grabbed some food.

In fact, over 200 stores closed last year and there are many more to come. Because of the pandemic, grocery curbside pickup (did I tell you or did I tell you?), and other factors, there is simply not enough profit coming in from these locations.

What will happen at these empty spots? Walmart is considering adding Domino’s PIzza, Taco Bell, and other popular fast food chains.
