Are you a foodie going through a bit of Great British Baking Show withdrawal? Do you yearn to see bakers creating stunning breads and pies? Do you miss seeing bakers sweat as their hard work is judged and one of them is sent home? Do you miss shows like Best Baker in America?
Well, we have great news for you thanks to the fine folks at Food Network. After taking a year off, the series is set to make a comeback this May with a new host and ten new bakers ready to do confectionary battle.
As detailed in the press release, Best Baker in America will see Carla Hall join the show as host, fresh off her recent stint as a mentor on Worst Cooks in America. She will be joined by judges Gesine Prado and Jason Smith to give away a prize of $25,000 to the one baker who rises above the rest.
According to Food Network president Courtney White, Hall was the perfect choice for the job.
"“Carla Hall’s enthusiasm, charisma and engaging wit, combined with her passion and culinary expertise makes her the perfect host as these talented bakers must impress with their baking skills and delectable desserts to prove that they have what it takes to be the Best Baker in America.”"
Fans of the Great British Baking Show will find a lot to like in Best Baker in America.
Best Baker in America will run for eight episodes and will see the ten bakers put through the ringer starting with the Master Challenge. This will test their ability and mastery of the basics of baking by creating baked goods from around the country. The bakers who fail to impress with then have to face each other in the Bake-Off Round to see who will be sent home.
The first episode will have the bakers trying to create a classic Kentucky May Day piecaken starring bourbon with future episode featuring key lime pie as well as treats from various regions of the United States.
Best Baker in America premieres on May 3 at 9 PM EST on Food Network. If you’ve been missing the tent and Paul Hollywood, this may be the show that will help you get through your baking fix this summer.
