MasterChef: Legends set to premiere on June 2 on FOX

With Hell’s Kitchen set to wrap up this coming Thursday, you may be thinking you will need to find another way to satisfy your Chef Gordon Ramsay addiction. Well fear not foodie faithful. We’re here to tell you that a new season of MasterChef is right around the corner.
Season 11 of MasterChef was in the middle of filming last year when the COVID-19 pandemic struck, shuttering almost every television and movie project that was in production. Now, we’re happy to report that filming on the new season has wrapped and it will debut on June 2 on FOX.
The new season will see judges Ramsay, Aarón Sánchez and Joe Bastianich all return along with 15 new home chefs all competing for the title of MasterChef. In addition, the Season 11 will get a new title and a whole host of guests as some “legendary” chefs join the show.
Season 11 is being billed as MasterChef: Legends and will see the likes of Emeril Lagasse, Paula Deen, Roy Choi, Nancy Silverton and Iron Chef Morimoto make appearances. However, exactly in what capacity they will be on MasterChef isn’t known. Will they be judging? Just hanging out? Helping to taste the dishes?
The winner of MasterChef Season 11 is in for a pretty big prize
The chef who impresses the judges the most will win a $250,000 grand prize, a Viking kitchen with everything included and a truckload of kitchen and bakeware from OXO. And of course the bragging rights that go along with winning MasterChef. So as you can see, winning is no joke.
One of the best parts of MasterChef is getting to see a completely different side to Gordon Ramsay. On Hell’s Kitchen he needs to be hard, a bit cruel and incredibly blunt due to the nature of the show and the prize. The winner will be running one of his restaurants after all.
By contrast on MasterChef Ramsay is a bit nicer, complimentary to the contestants and an all around different person. He’s honest when he has to be but without that hard edge we see on Hell’s Kitchen. Instead he leaves being an a**hole to Joe Bastianich, who seems to relish taking on the role.
I’ll be honest. I didn’t miss Bastianich when he left the show a few seasons ago and I wasn’t thrilled when it was announced he was returning. The man is an arrogant putz who isn’t even a real chef and needs to learn to be a bit kinder to the contestants.
MasterChef: Legends premieres on Wednesday, June 2 at 8 PM on FOX.
