It all came down to one last dinner service on Hell’s Kitchen. Kori versus Mary Lou for the chance to become the head chef at the brand new Hell’s Kitchen restaurant in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. And after Chef Gordon Ramsay gave it a lot of thought and looked over the guest evaluation cards, he picked his winner.

And in the end, it was Kori Sutton whose door opened and whose life changed forever.

Kori win didn’t come easy as Mary Lou put up a fierce fight. The menus created by both chefs were representative of where they came from and their own personal tastes. And once the orders made it to the tables the guests were universally blown away by the food.

No, as usual in Hell’s Kitchen it was the returning chefs that formed each of the brigades that caused the most drama. But in a shocking turn of events, the chef everyone was expecting to be an issue and to crash and burn was instead surprisingly competent.

Kori was the better, more in control leader in Hell’s Kitchen.

Going into the final dinner service everyone assumed that Marc would be Kori’s downfall. He just isn’t a very good chef and if anyone was going to cost her the win, it was likely going to be him. But instead, after some initial communication issues with Kori, Marc actually did a pretty solid job and none of his food came back. It turned out Kori knew exactly how to deal with Marc and how to get the most out of him.

On the other side of the kitchen, Mary Lou was having problems of her own. While Lauren had some issues at the start of dinner service she eventually got sorted out and focused. Instead, the biggest liability for Mary Lou was Amber.

Amber spent what felt like forever talking about how Kori made a mistake not picking her. Then once dinner service began, proceeded to prove exactly why she wasn’t to be trusted with trying to help Kori win the job. She once again got into her own head and before you knew it, Amber was in the weeds. Again.

Mary Lou did her best to try to fix the situation, even pulling Amber off the meat station altogether after undercooking chicken and giving it to Cody. While we’ll never know if how she handled the fiasco with Amber was what made Chef Ramsay give the win to Kori, you can be sure it will be something Mary Lou will be thinking about in years to come.

Kori now joins an elite group of chefs, becoming one the winners of Hell’s Kitchen. Her life will literally never be the same. While I don’t think Kori was the best chef on the show, she demonstrated why Chef Ramsay thinks so highly of her and that she will be a massive success in Lake Tahoe.
