It’s no secret that drinks at Starbucks aren’t exactly what anyone would consider healthy. Even the beloved matcha drink from the coffee and tea chain isn’t as good for you as you may believe. But how bad are frappuccinos?

If even the matcha drink sneaks a lot of sugar, imagine the amount of sugar in frappuccinos! Honestly, I  don’t want to know. Well, I would rather not know, but it is my job to deliver bad news sometimes and this is what this is.

Don’t blame us this time, though, it’s mashed that brought this news to our attention. But let’s be honest, do we truly seek healthy drinks when we go to Starbucks? Or do we just want our sweet fix? I’m thinking the latter.

That said, you can’t be all that surprised that frappuccinos are loaded with sugar. How much sugar? Read on…

How much sugar is in a frappuccino from Starbucks?

According to the source, Business Insider has reported that the grande version of a vanilla latte contains 250 calories and 35 grams of sugar. Yikes! Now, for frappuccinos.

The Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino, for example, contains a whopping 480 calories and 55 grams of sugar. And a grande Caramel Frappuccino ( a  personal favorite, to be honest) has 380 calories and 54 grams of sugar.

Are any of these two drinks your favorite? Let’s hope not!

The American Heart Association reports that we shouldn’t have more than 36 grams of sugar a day (for men) and 32 grams (for women), so both of these drinks heavily exceed that amount. It’s crazy to think about when you put it this way.

What’s your favorite drink from Starbucks? If you’d like to cut back on calories and sugar without sacrificing your favorite drink, I suggest getting it in the smallest size and perhaps not as often!
