The Arby’s menu is getting a shake up as we head into summer 2021. And it is sad news for potato lovers everywhere as two of their sides say goodbye.

It’s a sad day for fans of both the classic Potato Cakes and the Loaded Fries, as Arby’s has quietly discontinued both menu items. And according to Chew Boom, while both items are still showing up at some locations, the news (which started as an online rumor on reddit) has been confirmed by Arby’s themselves.

Apparently the fast food chain which is as much known for their meats as they are their curly fries said that at least for now the Potato Cakes and Loaded Fries are no more. However, that doesn’t mean that this is a permanent removal.

Arby’s discontinues both the Potato Cakes and the Loaded Fries on the menu

What this means for those of us who are fans of either of these potato sides is that if we really want to enjoy these treats one more time, you’ll want to call ahead and check with your local Arby’s to see if they have them still. For some locations, the removal of these menu items has already taken place, which means no more potato cakes dipped in Arby Sauce for us and no more loaded fries that are a meal all on their own.

Maybe it is me, but as someone who has almost always opted for the Potato Cakes over the Curly Fries, this is the worst fast food news of the year (so far). These have always been my go-to potato side at Arby’s so this is the kind of news that will have me rethinking my drive-thru order. (And no, I am not throwing my hat in the ring with the Crinkle Fries!)
