Krispy Kreme sweetens vaccine incentive with two free donuts
Krispy Kreme is pushing customers to get vaccinated by sweetening its promotional offering from Aug. 30 to Sept. 5. During that week, any American who has received at least one dosage of the COVID-19 vaccine will be able to snag two free donuts from the popular chain: one original glazed donut and a new original glazed heart donut.
The latter gives the ramped-up promotion its name: the “Show Your Heart” campaign. The weeklong deal comes on the heels of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approving the Pfizer Biotech shot for everyone age 16 and older on Aug. 23.
Through the “Show Your Heart” deal, Krispy Kreme hopes to do its part in ending the pandemic. Dave Skena, Chief Marketing Officer at the company, encouraged customers to do theirs — and to take advantage of this promotion:
"We all hoped we’d be near the end of this pandemic by now. We’re not. So, please consider getting vaccinated if you’ve not done so already. And then enjoy and share two amazing doughnuts with our heart-felt thanks."
Krispy Kreme was the first food chain to roll out a deal for vaccinated customers
When vaccines became widely available in March, Krispy Kreme was the first major chain to offer an incentive for customers to get vaccinated. Those who could show proof of receiving at least one shot were able to snag an original glazed donut for free, and that will continue to be the case once the company’s “Show Your Heart” deal ends.
According to a press release from the company, Krispy Kreme has given away over 2.5 million glazed donuts since the initial campaign started. It also gifted frontline workers and graduating seniors with more than 30 million free donuts, highlighting their desire to help during the health crisis.
