While the Whopper will always be the flagship burger of Burger King, the fast food titan is doing everything it can to make their King line of sandwiches a close second. Which makes a ton of sense seeing as the chain is called Burger King, not Burger Whopper.
First came their entry in the Great Chicken Sandwich Wars, the Ch’King, which has proven to be a monster hit. Then a couple months ago they announced two new variations of the King sandwich, the Garlic and Bacon King and the Breakfast Bacon King.
Can a Philly Cheesesteak King or a Chicago Deep Dish King be far behind?
Even Burger King Canada has made the decision to get into the “Let’s create a new version of the King Burger” game. However, this isn’t a Canadian Bacon King or a Poutine French Fry King that we’re talking about. In an ironic twist of fate, they went south of the border for inspiration. Very, very south.
Say hello to the new Southwestern King Sandwich from Burger King Canada.
According to the King consuming folks at Chewboom, the new item from Burger King Canada is the Southwestern King Sandwich. Yes, they went all the way to the southwestern part of the United States to come up with a new King.
The Southwestern King Burger includes a pair of flame-grilled beef patties, each topped with a slice of cheese as well as bacon and crispy onions. Additionally, it includes a jalapeno queso and crunchy tortilla strips.
Honestly, we’re not really sure what to think about this new King Sandwich. While the queso sounds interesting, the tortilla strips may be a bit much. However, since I’m not from the Southwest, I’ll defer to their opinion.
It isn’t known currently if the Southwestern King is a limited time item or a permanent addition to the menu in Canada. In addition, there’s no word if the new sandwich will make the trip south so us Americans can give it a try. We’ll have to wait and see.
