For sports fans around the country, late October means just one thing. That the 2021 World Series is right around the corner. Of course, for foodies the upcoming MLB Championship means something a bit different. For us, it’s all about Taco Bell and the Steal a Base, Steal a Taco promotion.

The idea is as simple as it sounds. Once the Fall Classic gets underway, when the first base gets stolen, almost always during Game 1, that means everyone gets a free taco. And as we all know, there is nothing America likes better than free tacos.

According to the press release we received, this year once the first base gets stolen everyone will get a totally free Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Tacos. And when we say everyone, we mean everyone. The details of how and when will be revealed shortly after that base is stolen.

According to Noah Garden, the MLB Chief Revenue Officer, the league looks forward to Steal a Base, Steal a Taco almost as much as Taco Bell.

"“‘Steal a Base, Steal a Taco’ always adds a fun dimension to the World Series and to see it play out in real time during the pinnacle of our sport makes it all the more enjoyable. As we approach this hallmark 10th edition of the promotion with Taco Bell, it goes to show the great value that a fun, creative partnership can generate for our fans and we’re excited to continue this tradition.”"

Taco Bell and MLB are commemorating 10 years of Steal a Base, Steal a Taco.

However, since this is the tenth year that Taco Bell has been giving away free tacos to all of America with the Steal a Base, Steal a Taco promotion, they have something very special happening with the League to commemorate the occasion.

This year, once the base gets stolen, the base itself will be heading to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY. Yes, the Steal a Base, Steal a Taco base will be enshrined along with the artifacts from the likes of Babe Ruth, Ted Williams and Lou Gehrig.

It’s a ridiculously high honor and just goes to show how much the Steal a Base, Steal a Taco promotion has become a part of the World Series. The base will be on display at the Hall of Fame for an entire year for fans to see and enjoy.

Josh Rawitch, President of the Baseball Hall of Fame, is as excited about the idea as you can be sure Taco Bell is.

"“In Cooperstown, we tell the stories of the game on the field and baseball’s impact on fans. This program has grown in popularity, and as it enters its tenth year we are thrilled that the hundreds of thousands of fans who will visit the Museum over the next year will be able to relive the exciting World Series moment this base represents.”"

The World Series begins on October 26 on FOX and will be streaming on assorted FOX apps.
