Generally, if you consider yourself a foodie, there are certain things that are clear signs that the holiday season is fast approaching. Pumpkin shows up as an ingredient in everything, Walmart has Christmas decorations out before Halloween is over and Food Network start airing ads for Holiday Baking Championship.
Baking Championship has become one of the flagship series for the network, with different versions airing depending on the time of year. There is one for Spring, one for Halloween and one for the Kids. However, the version most people look forward to the most every year is the Holiday edition.
A few years ago the series proved so popular that it actually got a spinoff competition series that focused exclusively on gingerbread. Holiday Gingerbread Showdown last aired in 2019 and saw bakers try to dazzles a panel of judges with stunning gingerbread masterpieces.
Now it is being reported by Mashed that the series is making a comeback for the 2021 Holiday season. Holiday Baking Championship: Gingerbread Showdown puts the focus back on gingerbread in all its flavorful forms and should get everyone in the Christmas Spirit.
When will Holiday Baking Championship: Gingerbread Showdown air?
As for the details about the new series, this is what we know. The show will be hosted by The Bachelor alum Jesse Palmer. That name should be familiar to Holiday Baking Championship fans as he has hosted previous versions of both the Holiday and Spring series. And did a surprisingly good job too.
The panel of judges is a mixture of new and familiar. It includes Chef Nacho Aguirre, who previously judged Spring Baking Championship and Chef Kardea Brown as well as Breegan Jane, star of HGTV’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Between the three of them they should have a solid idea of what makes a good gingerbread house.
Holiday Baking Championship: Gingerbread Showdown premiers on Food Network November 15 at 9 PM. It will air concurrently with Season 8 of the original Holiday Baking Championship so you can overdose on holiday baking this year. The series will also be available to stream on Discovery Plus.
