When Starbucks announced that they were giving us a new drink for the 2021 holiday season that was also dairy-free, many of us were excited. But that excitement seems to have been shortlived.
According to Mashed, it seems that many customers who turned out on November 4 for the official start of Red Cup season at Starbucks are less than impressed with this new latte. And the reason for that? It seems that the taste doesn’t live up to the name – the Iced Sugar Cookie Almondmilk Latte.
Among the complaints that were shared on TikTok, the almondmilk (some people just don’t like almondmilk) being used as the nondairy option was not liked and of course that it just doesn’t take like sugar cookies. But luckily for all of us, while we can always try the drink the way Starbucks intended and see for ourselves, the people of TikTok are also offering up some tasty suggestions to make the new latte taste more like its name.
Starbucks’ new Sugar Cookie Latte disappoints some fans
In order to make this latte taste more like a sugar cookie, there are a few suggestions out there, including changing out the nondairy milk with oat milk – it keeps the latte dairy-free, while also adding an added layer of creaminess.
Another suggestion from customers who have already tried the Starbucks way is to have the barista add their vanilla sweet cream cold foam to the drink in an effort to more sweetness and creaminess.
Other recommendations that have been suggested include adding their classic caramel drizzle to the top or even adding more of the sugar cookie syrup.
Obviously it all depends on how sweet you like your drinks, but with these suggestions, perhaps this new latte can find its place in your holiday sipping repertoire.
Have you tried this new dairy-free latte from Starbucks? What did you think? And if you customized your drink, let us know how you did.
