With Guy Fieri all over Food Network in more series than most foodies can count, it’s easy to forget that Fieri is also a respected and successful restaurateur. He owns several immensely successful chains including FlavorTown Kitchen and various Guy Fieri’s Kitchen and Bar locations.

Fieri launched a fast food-style restaurant called Chicken Guy this year to almost immediate success. The chain includes 14 locations already open or in the planning stages in the United States alone. And that is sure to expand exponentially as the chain grows.

And that growth is the focus of a new series Fieri is launching this December titled Guy’s Chance of a Lifetime. As revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, the new series will see the Food Network star award one lucky winner a Chicken Guy franchise of their very own.

The new series will run for six episodes and will debut first on Discovery Plus on December 26 before arriving on Food Network in early January. It will feature seven hopefuls as well as Fieri’s usual cast of characters, including business partner Robert Earl in addition to Maneet Chauhan, Anthony Hoy Fong, Antonia Lofaso, Christian Petroni and of course his son Hunter Fieri.

Guy Fieri is making sure Guy’s Chance of a Lifetime is a different kind of series.

According to Fieri, the series will not be like other competition shows like Hell’s Kitchen. The idea was to show what it’s really like to own and run a restaurant, warts and all.

"“I’ll tell you right now, this is not your every-day, run-of-the-mill competition show. No eliminations, no meaningless cook-offs each week. It’s a real-deal job interview for a life-changing opportunity. The candidates on Guy’s Chance of a Lifetime have to prove that they are the best all-around talent in the food business and if they can do that, we’re in business — together.”"

Courtney White, president of Food Network and streaming food content, said much the same thing, adding that the series will be more like a documentary then a competition series.

"“We rolled cameras around the clock on Guy’s Chance of a Lifetime, documenting every aspect of this unprecedented, grueling, 24/7 job interview. To win, these applicants study through the night, then rise at dawn to apply their new skills on the real-life restaurant line with Guy assessing their every move. The pressure and stakes couldn’t be higher. It’s an intense journey and thrilling to watch.”"

The series is one of the first Fieri has developed since signing his massive $80 million new contract with Food Network. It will join the already ridiculously popular Guy’s Grocery Games, Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and Tournament of Champions on the network as well as the Discovery Plus streaming platform.
