Sip this cocktail to enjoy the series finale of HBO’s Insecure
By D. Goodman
Based on Issa Rae‘s web series Awkward Black Girl, the television series Insecure has been a big success for HBO since it premiered in 2016. A critical and ratings hit, the comedy-drama has received a truckload of award nominations and wins, including an Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series for Season 4.
However, all good things come to an end. It was announced in January of this year that Season 5 would be the last. The season premiered in October with the series finale set to air on HBO on December 26.
To celebrate the series and the end of Insecure, a pair of titans in the spirits category have decided to join forces to create a new drink that pays homage to the debut episode of the series and what many people feel is it’s most iconic and defining scene, the freestyle rap segment.
According to the press release we received, Russian Standard Vodka, a longtime leader in premium vodka and Gancia, the producer of Italy’s first ever sparkling wine, decided to get together and create something new. They call it The Broken Cookie and fans of Insecure will no doubt love to sip one while watching the finale.
What is in the new Insecure inspired drink The Broken Cookie?
So what exactly is The Broken Cookie? And how do you go about making one? Glad you asked. You’re going to need Russian Standard Vodka and Gancia Prosecco Rose (obviously) as well as Elderflower liqueur, a lime and some sugar cookies that are broken into pieces.
Take the sugar cookie crumbs and put them on a plate. Rub the rim of your glass with the lime and then dip it into the sugar cookie crumbs. Grab your shaker and add 0.5 ounces of Russian Standard Vodka, 0.5 ounces of the Elderflower liqueur, lime juice and ice. Give it a very good shake and pour it into the glass with the cookie crumbs. Top with 2 ounces of Gancia Prosecco and enjoy!
That’s it. Get some friends together, make a couple of these and get ready to say goodbye to Insecure on December 26.
And who says enjoying The Broken Cookie has to end when Insecure does? You have all the ingredients, why not enjoy one on Christmas Eve? Or New Year’s Eve? Or any other type of Eve for that matter? It seems like a great cocktail to make whenever there is something to celebrate.
