Christmas is here and while traditions are the name of the game when it comes to the holidays, not everyone sticks to them or has the time or talent to make a big meal. Sometimes getting takeout from Olive Garden or going to the restaurant is the only option. But is Olive Garden even open on Christmas?

Sadly, Olive Garden is closed on Christmas Day. So if you’re looking forward to a Tour of Italy, some Fettuccine Alfredo, or a slice of lasagna, you’ll either have to get it ahead of time or be out of luck.

This isn’t a total surprise though. Not many restaurants are open on Christmas as it gives employees a chance to be with their families for the holiday or just a day off if they don’t celebrate Christmas.

But if you’re really in the mood for some soup, salad, and breadsticks, or a plate of ravioli, the restaurant is open on Christmas Eve. You can always pick up your Christmas meal the day before. That being said, make sure to check with your local Olive Garden to see what their hours are. Most restaurants have reduced hours on Dec 24.

Better to call ahead of time to figure out when they’re open rather than show up and they’re already closed.

They should be back to their regular hours the day after Christmas so if you’re still visiting family, need to get away from your Aunt Jean, and will die if you eat another piece of ham, Olive Garden will be there to supply you with all your sort-of-Italian food needs.

I know I could use some tiramisu or some warm doughnuts after spending three days with my relatives.
