Did you forget to pick up something for your Christmas dinner? Need a dessert to complete the meal? Then you may be wondering which grocery stores are actually open on Christmas Day.

While last minute shopping for Christmas might be more about the gift giving, the food can be just as important. And if you find yourself forgetting things or just really need a grocery run, then you need to know which stores are actually going to be open on December 25.

So which grocery stores can we count on to be open on Christmas Day?

Which grocery stores will be open on Christmas Day?

  • Albertsons – While they may have reduced hours for the holiday, according to Country Living, Albertsons will be open on Christmas Day.
  • Acme – Whether you need coffee, milk, or something else on December 25, Acme stores will be open. Just remember to check their hours as they will likely vary depending on where you are.
  • Giant Food Stores – Another grocery store that will be open are the Giant Food Stores. And it looks like they will have pretty solid hours, as they are said to be open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on December 25.
  • Safeway – As Good Housekeeping points out, Safeway locations will be open, but not every store. This means you will want to check before heading out to snag those grocery needs.

Honestly, most grocery stores will be closed for Christmas, as it is the one day of the year that almost all stores are in fact closed. But if these stores don’t work, there are a few other places you can hit up for those grocery needs, including:

  • Walgreens
  • CVS
  • 7-Eleven
  • Wawa
  • Rite Aid
  • Cumberland Farms
  • Circle K
  • Casey’s
  • Family Dollar (not all locations)

No matter what, we always recommend calling ahead to confirm the hours of the store you need, just in case the reduced hours mean they are not open yet or they are already closed.
