What is it about fast food that when a restaurant puts it in a box, it not only tastes better but saves you money? Taco Bell has become the undisputed king of food in a box with their $5 Cravings Box line and Popeyes is not far behind.

Over the years Popeyes has released a number of different food in a box deals, all of them immensely popular with the chain’s fans. Of course, that was overshadowed when they released their Chicken Sandwich in 2019 and kicked off the Great Chicken Sandwich Wars that are still going on to this day.

Now, to celebrate the new year, Popeyes is bringing back one of their most popular food in a box deals, the classic $5 Big Box. But according to Chewboom, there’s a bit of a catch this time around.

The $5 Big Box is available exclusively when you order ahead on the Popeyes website or use the app. If you order in person or while in the drive-thru, it then becomes the $6 Big Box. Yep, if you order while physically there it will cost you an extra dollar. Doesn’t seem fair but this is the world we live in now.

What is included in the Popeyes $5 Big Box anyway?

Whether you get the $5 or $6 Big Box it will include the same menu items. You get two pieces of Popeyes popular bone-in chicken or three chicken tenders, two regular sides and a biscuit. And it all comes in a nifty box.

While we can debate charging someone extra if they don’t use the app, even at six bucks that’s still one heck of a deal. There’s a reason that Popeyes food in a box deals are so popular with their fans.

The $5 Big Box will only be on the Popeyes menu for a limited time so if you want one, download the app and order yourself one. Because it will be gone before you know it to be replaced with another food in a box idea.
