Burger King is testing new Toasted Breakfast Sandwiches
By D. Goodman
When it comes to fast food breakfasts, McDonald’s has long been the king of the drive-thru. The Egg McMuffin is still synonymous with breakfast despite all the work and money chains like Burger King and Taco Bell have invested to change that.
However, that doesn’t mean that they have given up. Far from it. Burger King in particular continues to try new things and innovative ideas to increase their slice of the breakfast pie. In fact Burger King seems all too willing to try anything to see what sticks.
We recently reported how they are putting a new spin on their classic Whopper and now they appear to be trying the same tactic when it comes to their breakfast options. According to the egg-cellent folks at Chewboom, Burger King is testing a whole new line of breakfast sandwiches starting on January 13.
The new line is called their Toasted Breakfast Sandwiches and the twist here is that they don’t use a muffin, roll or croissant, the latter of which which has become their breakfast calling card. No, these use simple, basic toast.
The new Burger King Toasted Breakfast Sandwiches are only available in Buffalo.
The Toasted Breakfast Sandwich line includes three different option for the breakfast lovers out there. At least those breakfast lovers who happen to live in Buffalo, New York. Becasue that’s where Burger King is testing the new menu items.
First is the Ham and Cheese Sandwich, which includes ham and melted cheese on a pair or toasted bread rounds. Next is the Cheese, Sausage and Egg Sandwich which has a fried egg, a sausage patty and melted cheese on toasted bread. And last is the Crispy Chicken Sandwich which includes a homestyle chicken fillet and maple glaze on toasted bread rounds.
All of those sound amazing, they really do. But no bacon sandwich? Seriously? What the heck is Burger King thinking?
All three options are available now for a limited time in the Buffalo area. Will they go nationwide down the road? Maybe. But unless they create one that includes bacon, I ain’t interested.
