Iron Chef is coming back! The last episode of Iron Chef America aired almost four years ago, but now the professional cooking competition is coming back. But it won’t be headed to The Food Network.! That’s because it’s set to air on Netflix!

It’s unclear what this new reboot will be like. Will it be like the flashier American version or will it be like the original Japanese version? The original Japanese Iron Chef began in 1993 and officially ended in 2002.

I am hoping it’s more like the original with ingredients that aren’t familiar to everyone and chefs from all around the world. It was such a fun, intense show and just…so much better than the American version.

The reboot will be called Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend and despite it only being announced now, the series should hit Netflix later this year. The show has been greenlit for 8 episodes.

Iron Chef reboot headed to Netflix in 2022

The culinary competition will feature five new Iron Chefs who will take on Challenger Chefs in Kitchen Stadium. They will be given an ingredient they must use in all their dishes and then face a panel of judges who will determine if the Challenger or the Iron Chef comes out on top.

Whoever the most successful Challenger is will return to battle in the finale for the chance to be named the “Iron Legend.”

The past Iron Chefs have been Masaharu Morimoto, Wolfgang Puck, Bobby Flay, Alex Guarnaschelli, Cat Cora, and Jose Garces.

As much as I love some of these chefs, I’m really hoping none of them take up the role on the new show. There are a lot of amazing chefs in the world. Let them show off their skills as Iron Chefs.

The team behind the new reboot certainly knows their way around a cooking competition. Eytan Keller, who will executive produce and direct the show, was an executive producer on Iron Chef America and Daniel Calin, who has worked on MasterChef, Top Chef, Nailed It!, and The American Barbecue Showdown, will be the showrunner and an executive producer.
