Taco Bell is testing a new menu item in California
Taco Bell is testing a brand new menu items in the Sacramento, California area and it is all about bringing the heat and the flavor. And since we love all things Taco Bell, we can’t but be excited by the idea of a brand new menu item of any type!
So what is this new menu item they are testing? According to Chew Boom, it seems that Taco Bell is introducing their California customers to the Cantina Crispy Chicken Tortada.
What exactly is a Tortada? Well, honestly we have no clue. But what we do know is this appears to be a mash up of both a tostada and torta. And if you don’t know what a torta is, that is basically a sandwich.
Then what is this new Tortada on the Taco Bell menu?

So it seems that this particular creation starts with a flour tortilla that has been warmed first. Then they add crispy chicken strips (at least in the pictures of the Tortada it looks like more than one chicken strip) that have been coated in a mix of Mexican spices.
These chicken strips are then coated in a jalapeno buttermilk and a coating of tortilla chips. From there, they add a “secret sauce,” shredded lettuce and cheeses, and even tomatoes that are all wrapped up in the flour tortilla before it is grilled up (much like they do with the classic Crunchwrap).
If you happen to be in the Sacramento area, you can snag the Tortada as an a la carte option right now, although we don’t really know how long these will be around for.
We are just hoping that Taco Bell decides to expand this offering nationwide, because this definitely sounds like a menu item we can get behind. Not only do we love the idea of a play on a Torta and a Tostada, but the heat that this item seems to bring to the table is something we are definitely excited to try at least once.
