We’re just (almost, roughly) 10 states away from hitting the halfway mark! See a breakfast place that you like? See one that you’re just not that sure about yet? Let’s us know all those thoughts!
Is there any breakfast place near you that you will never go back to? We love to hear all sorts of stories, so feel free to share yours down below!
Next up, let’s travel on over to Illinois and Indiana for some early morning deliciousness!
13. Illinois
Breakfast Place(s): Vegas Café & Mauri’s
Featured Dish(es): Chile Rellenos Omelet & Country Fried Steak and Eggs
We have finally reached my home state, which is why I had to choose two different places, both that I’ve been to before, of course!
Vegas Café
First up is the Vegas Café. Their menu is huge, and they’re known for their soups; and yes, you can get soup at nine o’clock in the morning if you wish (which I have done once before; greatest decision that I made that day). They always have tons of specials and breakfast dishes that are sure to make you full for the whole day! Should you choose to eat a bit on the lighter side of things, they’ve got that front covered as well! Let’s talk about the Chile Rellenos Omelet! It’s spicy, it’s cheesy, it’s delicious. What more do you need to know?!
Mauri’s
There are two different locations of Mauri’s I believe. It’s a family-owned business where you never have just one waiter; everyone helps everyone out, which is actually really cool to see. They’re always busy, and for a tiny little local breakfast place, they have some of the best coffee that I, legit, have ever had from any restaurant ever. Let’s talk about their Country Fried Steak and Eggs! The steak is crispy and perfectly cooked and fried up to a nice golden brown perfection! Also, If you’re a massive fan of some classic white sausage gravy, just ask for a side of it because it is so good. Trust me: you’ll thank me later!
Have you tried this delicious morning treat yet? Your thoughts? Let’s hear it!
14. Indiana
Breakfast Place: The Scrambled Diner
Featured Dish: Boston Skillet
Founder of this restaurant and his wife, Jen, I believe, started this particular eating establishment with one goal in mind: to create a unique experience for all of their diners. While most breakfast places taste the same because they buy their ingredients from the same set of food suppliers, founder and Jen use fresh and local ingredients and change up the menu to add in some suiper secret family recipes every month or so! Now….what we’ve all been waiting for….let’s talk about their The Boston Skillet! Here’s what’s in it: lobster, crab, shrimp, spinach, tomato, asiago cheese. Now, if that doesn’t scream delicious, then I don’t know what will. I’ve never ever seen something like this on a breakfast menu, but would definitely travel to try it!
