Do you love to snack as much as I do?  I’m always on the lookout for new snacks to try, especially ones from other countries. International snacks have become very popular and with good reason! As the country’s population continues to become more diverse, we see cultural influences on everything from clothing, music and especially food. Mexican snacks have not gotten the same attention as the more popular Mexican main dishes, but CHUZA is hoping to change that.

CHUZA is a snack company founded by Mexican-born owner Danny Schwarz.  He wanted to share the flavors of his home country with the world and bring a piece of his culture to our homes.  From the company website, the name CHUZA means, “to achieve something great.” Schwarz aims to do  this with his snacks.

If you like a sweet and spicy combo you have to try CHUZA Mexican snacks!

CHUZA Mexican snacks come in five different fruit flavors: spicy apricot, spicy cranberry, spicy mango, spicy pineapple and spicy strawberry. Each piece of dried fruit is dusted in the company’s signature chili powder blend. Every bite is a bold mix of spicy and sweet. After having the opportunity to sample the different flavors, our family favorite is the apricot. The other fruits have a bit of a candied element to them and we like the less-sweet apricots. Be warned, though: all the fruit options have a fair amount of heat to them and it would be helpful to be a fan of spicy foods.

The snacks come in bold and brightly colored bags. According to a press email, the “packaging is inspired by years of Mexican architectural history, with its shapes derived from the Mayan pyramids, and the bold colors and minimalist style inspired by the renowned Mexican Architect Luis Barragan.” Each of these 4.5 ounce bags retails for $4.99, with the exception of the spicy strawberry, which retails for $7.99. You can purchase these snacks from the CHUZA website or on Amazon.
