Fritos joins with Thomas Rhett for new television ad
By D. Goodman
Fritos is one of those rare snack brands that has become synonymous with the product. Think about it. When’s the last time you decided to buy some corn chips? You didn’t. You probably thought to yourself that you’re going to buy some Fritos.
This despite the fact that it has been 20 years since Fritos has aired a television commercial. Yes you read that right. There actually might be a few of you reading this who have never seen a television ad for the brand in your lifetime.
Well, according to the press email we received at Guilty Eats central, that is all about to change. Fritos is getting back into the television advertising game and they are joining forces with the 2021 Academy of Country Music Male Artist of the Year to do it.
Thomas Rhett, country music superstar and obvious Fritos fan, recently joined with the iconic corn chip brand to create the “Down for Everything” ad campaign. The ad, which began airing nationally late last month, shows how much the corn chips have become a part of American life over the course of Frito’ 90 year history.
Fritos new television ad is one part nostalgia, one part part special memories.
According to Rhett, the decision to work with the brand was an easy one since he was a fan long before they approached him about an doing a television ad.
"“It’s really cool to be a part of Fritos brand’s first commercial in 20 years. The Fritos brand has been such a staple in my house for as long as I can remember and is always around for some of my favorite things, like a college football tailgate with friends, or bonfires and chili nights with the family. Anyone who knows my music knows how nostalgic I am and how much I value the things in life that help create special memories, so the ‘Down for Everything’ campaign is such a fun and natural fit for me.”"
Will we see more television ads for Fritos in the future? While no one is saying it’s a safe bet this won’t be the last time you see the popular corn chips on a screen near you.
