Top Chef: A preview of Last Chance Kitchen S19

Season 19 of Top Chef is here and it is putting a huge spotlight on the culinary style of Houston, Texas. A whole new group of chefs are battling it out for one of the most coveted titles in all of food television with the reality being 14 of them will be sent home empty handed.
For that one winner, it will be a life changing victory that could change the course of their entire culinary career. And it used to be that once you were told by Padma Lakshmi to “pack your knives and go” that was it, the dream was over.
That all changed during Season 9 of Top Chef with the introduction of Last Chance Kitchen. The web series saw recently ousted cheftestants be given a chance to return to the competition and have a second chance at winning it all.
Hosted and solely judged by Tom Colicchio, Last Chance Kitchen has seen numerous notable chefs make a comeback and end up making it all the way to the finale. Some have even won the whole shebang, including Brooke Williamson and Kristen Kish.

So with a new season of Top Chef upon us, Last Chance Kitchen is also back. Bravo recently released a preview of the new season that reveals some new twists and turns for the web series as well as the same tension and drama.
If the series follows the pattern of the last several years, more than one of the vanquished cheftestants will be given the chance to return. While some fans feel like this has watered down the prestige of the title of Top Chef a bit, others feel it makes for a better, more unpredictable series.
After being given the boot on the premiere of Top Chef Houston, Leia Gaccione will be the first chef given a chance at redemption in Last Chance Kitchen. Who will be joining her in the fight to return? We’ll all just have to wait and see.
