MasterChef Junior sees the junior chefs cooking in the desert
In MasterChef Junior Season 8 episode 7, the junior chefs found themselves being driven to the desert in an epic monster truck driven by none other than Daphne Oz. And why did they head to the desert? In order to cook a meal (and appetizer) to serve 51 guests at a Monster Truck and Dirt Bike Track.
Once again, MasterChef Junior had our young chefs split into two teams. And it was ultimately Molly and Abir who were chosen to the be the team captains.
With the chefs split into the red and blue teams, things were looking interesting as Molly and Abir found themselves the leaders for this competition. But while the two young leaders got to choose their teams at the very beginning of the episode, when they got to the desert, they learned that they would actually be leading the team chosen by their fellow captain. (It was a team swap that neither captain seemed happy about.)
Unfortunately for both teams, there was a lot of issues in the kitchen. While both teams were able to pull off their corn dog appetizers, it was the actual entrees that ended up being a true struggle. The red team struggled with their meats and seasoning, as well as their teamwork. While the blue team could not get the seasoning right, especially with the relish they were adding to their dish, and their brussels sprouts weren’t always cooked all the way through, they did seem to work decently well together.

But with the 51 guests at the track voting for the winning team, it was ultimately the red team (lead by Abir) that won the day. Even with their issues in the kitchen, it seems that their dishes were able to pull them all through for another week.
This meant that someone from the other team would be going home. And with the blue team being the losers of the day, it ended up being Starla who got sent home after she was unable to handle being in charge of the black eyed pea relish for her team.
It is always sad to see one of these young chefs getting sent home, but that is the name of the game. And it was clear that even as hard as this decision can be, it was the right choice for the losing team in this moment.
