Woodford Reserve released a limited edition Derby in a Box ahead of the Kentucky Derby

In honor of the 148th running of the Kentucky Derby on May 7, 2022, Woodford Reserve has released a limited edition Derby in a Box drink kit! And considering the brand is a “Presenting Sponsor” of the Derby, it absolutely makes sense for them to release this box.

For the first time ever, Woodford Reserve is giving fans of the brand an opportunity for a little something more when it comes to celebrating the Kentucky Derby. And what better way is there to celebrate the most iconic two minutes in the world of sports than with a kit to make the perfect cocktail?

Of course, for this first ever Derby in a Box, Woodford Reserve has created something stunning and downright collectible. In fact, the box with a bottle of Woodford Reserve included costs $500, while the box without the bottle (due to state restrictions on shipping alcohol) will run you $350.

So what makes this drink so very special?

Up first, we have to point out that only 148 boxes of the Derby in a Box were made available in this limited release. And as the name implies, this is everything you might need (except the ice) to create the perfect cocktail for your Derby watch party (even if there isn’t an actual party involved). But that’s not all.

According to the press release we received on behalf of the brand,

"For each box sold, a donation will be made to Old Friends Farm, a non-profit located near Woodford Reserve Distillery where famed thoroughbreds, including past Derby winners, retire.Each Derby kit will include a Woodford Reserve Mint Julep cup, jigger, and stirrer, along with Mint Julep cocktail syrup to stir up the classic cocktail.The box will also include Woodford Reserve’s 2022 Derby Bottle, featuring art from an equine artist known for her stunning horse portraits, Jaime Corum, for those in select states*. The bottle is signed by Corum and Woodford Reserve Master Distiller Chris Morris.For states where the bottle cannot be shipped, a signed limited-edition print of the Derby Bottle artwork will be included. The print also is signed by Corum and Morris.Additionally, as the finishing touch to any ensemble, buyers can choose between a custom Derby bow tie or scarf to complete any ensemble."

So not only do we get everything we could possibly need to enjoy a next level Derby experience, but by purchasing one of these limited edition kits, we are supporting a great cause. It certainly seems like an amazing win to us.
