It’s rare in the fast food business when you can say a chain had an unequivocal smash hit with a brand new product. But that is exactly what happened when Burger King finally took the wraps off their reinvented chicken sandwich, the Ch’King.
After months of hype and delays, the Ch’King finally arrived and actually lived up to all the buzz. It’s a great chicken sandwich that got Burger King’s fans excited and had people lining up at the drive-thru to try one.
But if what we’ve heard is true, Burger King may not be done with the chicken sandwich category just yet. Because word is that they are trying something new in a few select locations and if the response is good, the Ch’King may have to share top billing.
Burger King is testing three new Royal Crispy Chicken Sandwiches.
According to Chewboom, Burger King is testing a new line of Royal Crispy Chicken Sandwiches in select locations in New York City and Virginia. Obviously the name is playing off the whole Burger King theme here, as they did with the Ch’King.
The new sandwich comes in three different varieties.
The BK Royal Crispy Chicken Sandwich includes a crispy (hence the name) white meat chicken fillet topped with lettuce, tomatoes and a savory sauce all between a toasted potato bun. The BK Spicy Royal Crispy Chicken Sandwich includes all of the above except the fillet is coated in a triple pepper spicy glaze. Finally, the BK Bacon and Swiss Cheese Royal Crispy Chicken Sandwich adds bacon and creamy Swiss cheese to the party.
It is currently unknown if the Royal Crispy Chicken Sandwich line is meant to be an eventual replacement for the Ch’King or simply another menu option. Considering how much time and research went into the Ch’King, the former seems highly unlikely but you never know.
So if you live in New York or Virginia keep your eyes peeled and the rest of us will just have to wait to see if the new line goes nationwide sometime down the road.
