While the characters Lorelai and Rory Gilmore from the iconic show Gilmore Girls weren’t well-known for their cooking skills, they were revered for their eating skills (does anyone else remember the four Thanksgiving dinners episode?). The characters encountered some delicious dishes, whether they were eating at Luke’s Diner, trying a new recipe from chef Sookie St. James, or heading over to Friday night dinner with Emily and Richard Gilmore. Now ahead of the 15th anniversary of the series finale this upcoming weekend, you can bring a bit of Stars Hollow into your kitchen by recreating these tasty meals with a new official cookbook inspired by the show.
Gilmore Girls: The Official Cookbook is a 176-page hardcover cookbook written by food stylist and recipe developer Elena P. Craig and humorist and editor Kristen Mulrooney. The book, which was released on May 10, features over 50 recipes from some of Lorelei and Rory’s favorite Stars Hollows restaurants like Al’s Pancake World, Luke’s Diner, and Weston’s Bakery. There are also beloved dishes featured in this book, like Jackson’s blueberry shortcake, Luke’s Santa burger, and Mrs. Kim’s eggless egg salad sandwiches.
Fans will also learn tricks of the trade like Sookie’s secret cooking tips, Michel’s hosting hacks, and Emily’s etiquette essentials. They’ll even discover how to eat and talk faster from experts Lorelai and Rory. In addition, the book also has plenty of photos of the dishes and the show for fans to enjoy.
