It was a year ago that Season 4 of Somebody Feed Phil, the immensely enjoyable food and travel series starring Philip Rosenthal arrived on Netflix. At the time it wasn’t a given that fans would see more of the series, which follows Rosenthal as he travels to different cities to experience the culture and cuisine.

Lucky for all of us, that turned out not to be the case. Season 5 is set to arrive in all its foodie glory on Netflix on May 25. The new season includes trips to five brand new locations which include Oaxaca, Helsinki, Madrid and two vastly different versions of Portland (Maine and Oregon).

As you may remember, Somebody Feed Phil is the evolution of a series originally called I’ll Have What Phil’s Having which aired on PBS. The original is well worth seeking out as it is just as charming and entertaining as the new Netflix series.

Somebody Feed Phil to return for Season 6 later this year.

But that’s not all the good news we have for Somebody Feed Phil fans. It is being reported by Variety that the series has already been picked up for a sixth season ahead of the Season 5 premiere. According to Rosenthal the streamer is targeting a fall debut for the next season but nothing is confirmed.

Both Season 5 and Season 6 were actually filmed back to back which meant that the chances we weren’t going to see the five episodes that make up Season 6 were pretty slim. According to Rosenthal, who also executive produces the series, the 10 episodes were filmed during breaks in the COVID-19 pandemic.

"“We filmed 10 episodes in the sweet spot between Delta and Omicron. Remember that? So from August to January, we pretty much filmed everything. We only had to postpone one location because of Omicron, but we swapped in another one in the United States for that. And we’ll go back to [that other location eventually].”"

All five episodes of Season 5 will be available to stream on May 25 as well as the previous four seasons. And just like we said last time, if you have never watched the series you really owe it to yourself to give it a try. There are few shows that will put a smile on your face like Somebody Feed Phil.
