Netflix’s Is It Cake? has been renewed for season 2

Is It Cake? first premiered on Netflix in March 2022 and proved to be a fun, supportive, and unique baking competition that set itself apart from the rest. And clearly, it made its mark because it was just renewed for a second season.

If you didn’t watch it, the show was hosted by SNL cast member Mikey Day and followed a group of bakers as they competed to win $50,000 by making cakes that looked exactly like real-life objects. There were sewing machines and bowling pins and a very realistic-looking chess set.

The cakes were then put into a group of the real objects and celebrity judges had to guess which one was cake. More often than not, they got it wrong and when the knife was put to the item the judges picked, it didn’t go through easily.

The winner of the first season was baker Andrew Fuller with his very detailed suitcase that looked like it was filled with clothes. He ended up beating April Julian (who made an amazing-looking sewing machine) and Hemu Basu (who made a very real-looking marble statue).

While we don’t know much about season 2 besides the fact that it’s coming, we do know that Mikey Day will be back as host and that there will be a whole new cast of bakers to compete for a cash prize.

When season 2 will be released on Netflix is anyone’s guess, but hopefully, it will be next year (2023). If there was ever a time when we could use a unique cake decorating show, it’s now, so the sooner it comes out, the better! And hopefully, the new group of bakers are just as supportive of each other as last season’s group was.
