Fresca makes it easy to enjoy the perfect summer sip thanks to the Simple Shirley
Are you looking for the perfect summer sip to enjoy during the warmer months of 2022? Well, Fresca has the answer with a special recipe.
We have heard that the “Dirty Shirley” will be the drink of summer, but for us, we are trying for a more alcohol-free option. And since we have long loved a classic Shirley (you can never go wrong with a Shirley Temple), we are all about finding new takes on this nostalgic beverage.
This is where Fresca and their take on the next level Shirleys come into the picture. Introducing their Simple Shirley, a drink that takes the Shirley Temple and elevates it to the next level without the need for alcohol. So if you are looking for a delicious mocktail this summer, then this might just be the perfect way to enjoy summer sipping.
Fresca gives us the perfect summer sip with their Simple Shirley recipe
So how do we make a Simple Shirley with Fresca?
What you need:
- 6 ounces of Fresca in Original Citrus
- 1 ounce of Grenadine (they recommend a homemade Grenadine)
- Ice!
What to do:
This recipe is as simple as pouring the Fresca over a glass filled with ice and then topping with the Grenadine. Stir together and then garnish your glass with your choice of cherries, orange wedges, lemon wedges, or even a lime wedge.
And if you are wondering how to make that Grenadine for yourself, have no fear because Fresca has us covered with that too! So how do you make a homemade Grenadine?
What you need:
- 2 cups of pomegranate juice
- 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice (you can also substitute lemon juice with a teaspoon of orange blossom water)
- 2 cups of granulated sugar
What to do:
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine all three ingredients together. Heat until the liquid bubbles at the edge of the pan and the sugar has completely dissolved in the liquid. Do not boil this mixture and make sure that you are stirring occasionally (and slowly). (Once the liquid is combined, heated through, and dissolved, it may have a thicker consistency.) Remove from the heat and then allow it to cool down before bottling the grenadine. You can store this in the refrigerator once it has cooled down. (We recommend using this mixture within two weeks.)
We are pretty excited to give the Simple Shirley a try this summer! And of course, we love adding Fresca to our summer sipping anyway, even without using it in a mocktail recipe. In fact, we think we may just include Fresca and their Simple Shirley in all of our summer gatherings, barbecues, and brunches.
What do you think? Will you give this recipe for the Simple Shirley from Fresca a try? What do you think of their Grenadine recipe? Will you try this as well? Does this sound like something you will include in your summer gatherings?
