When it comes to uniquely delicious ice cream, Salt and Straw always seems to deliver. And now they are delivering something new, innovative, and bold.
Taking the idea of satisfying all of our senses, Salt and Straw has decided to launch a whole new product that is not only inspired by their ice cream, but is also a perfect companion to the icy cold treat. We are talking about an edible perfume!
According to a press email we received on behalf of Salt and Straw,
"Enter Salt & Straw’s innovative Culinary Perfume. Years in the making, the perfume, which is both edible and wearable, doesn’t change the flavor of the ice cream, but enhances your ice cream experience. The specific “scents” were intentionally created to compliment the classic flavors of our generationally beloved dessert."
Salt and Straw is taking our culinary experience to a whole new level with an edible perfume
With up to 80 percent of our sense of taste reliant on our sense of smell, it makes sense that we eat with our nose as much as our mouth. But unfortunately, for the most part, ice cream actually has no scent. And this is where the idea of edible perfume enters the picture. Think about this as a full sensory experience.
The new perfume will be released on National Ice Cream Day, which happens to fall on July 17, and will be available in three scents/flavors – A Swoon of Citrus (which I absolutely have to get my hands on), A Plume of Blooms, and A Cloud of Cocoa. The full size bottles, which are 65ml, will cost $65 each. A three pack of sample sizes, which are 10ml each, will cost $48. And if you head to a Salt and Straw location, you can get a spritz on your ice cream for just $0.50 as a topping!
But if you aren’t heading to a Salt and Straw shop, have no fear because there is an online wait list, which you can join here.
Now, we don’t know about you, but we are so fascinated by this product. Not only do we love the idea of an edible perfume, but we also love the idea of perfume that smells like one of our favorite sweet treats – ice cream. And we really want to give these a try for ourselves to see how it elevates our dessert eating experience.
What do you think Guilty Eaters? Are we curious about an edible perfume for our ice cream? Will you be jumping on the wait list to give this creation a try?
