Taco Bell, the beloved fast food chain that has some of the most devoted fans in the world and Cheez-It, the popular cheese cracker snack, don’t exactly run in the same circles. These aren’t two brands that anyone would think of and say “Those two need to join forces!”
But that is exactly what has happened. Further proving that they are the true innovators of fast food, Taco Bell and Cheez-It have teamed up to create two new menu items that folks will either love or hate. There doesn’t seem to be a ton of middle ground on the matter.
It is being reported by Chewboom that the odd partnership has resulted in the Big Cheez-It Tostada and the Big Cheez-It Crunchwrap Supreme. Both items are being taken out for a test run at a single Taco Bell location in Southern California.
One of the new Cheez-It menu items is only available on the Taco Bell app.
The Big Cheez-It Tostada includes an oversized Cheez-It cracker topped with seasoned beef, sour cream, diced tomatoes, lettuce and cheddar cheese. The Cheez-It is 16 times larger than the regular version so yes, that is one big Cheez-It.
The Big Cheez-It Crunchwrap Supreme includes beef, nacho cheese sauce, sour cream, lettuce and tomatoes. Here the tostada shell is removed and replaced with an oversized Cheez-It before the whole thing is wrapped up inside a tortilla and grilled.
In an additional twist, the Big Cheez-It Crunchwrap Supreme is a digital exclusive, which is odd for a test item at a fast food chain. To get one you have to order it via the Taco Bell app or on their website.
And if you want to try one you’ll have to move fast. The test is schedule to run just two weeks. But considering just how weird the whole thing is and how social media is already going mad for the new pairing, you can be sure both items will likely end up on the Taco Bell menu eventually.
