Editor’s Note: While this is the second season of Great Chocolate Showdown on The CW, it appears to be the third season that aired on Food Network Canada.

Great Chocolate Showdown is back! When the first season finished up in America on The CW, it was unclear if the network was going to continue airing the other seasons of the baking competition show. But it looks like they are and we don’t have to wait too long to see a new group of contestants make all kinds of chocolate creations.

The season 2 premiere will air on Thursday, Aug 11, 2022 at 9 p.m. ET on The CW. This is a switch for the show as the first season aired on Saturdays, but it’s likely to get more people watching.

The show follows a group of ten bakers and each week they receive challenges based on a certain theme. But while the theme changes, what they create must include some form of chocolate no matter what the challenge is. One baker is eliminated each week until they get down to the final three.

At that point, the surviving bakers must compete in a final ultimate challenge to see who becomes the Great Chocolate Showdown champion and wins $50,000.

It looks like not much has changed between seasons. While the bakers will be brand new, the judges are the same. The judges include pastry chefs Steven Hodge and Anna Olsen, and cake designer Cynthia Stroud.

It also looks like there will, once again, be a challenge that tests a specific skill and then an elimination challenge that will allow them to use that skill but also show off what else they can do.

Based on the trailer, it’s going to be as chaotic and stressful as last season. Chocolate is melting, things are breaking, and bakers are sweating and crying. But hopefully, everything turns out okay and tastes delicious. It’s hard to go wrong when it’s chocolate.

While the season will be new for the US, it has already aired in Canada (it’s a Food Network Canada show). So if you don’t want spoilers, you may want to stay away from googling the show.
