What do you get when you combine doughnuts with gin? No, it’s not a riddle. It’s a Blueberry Martini doughnut! And what better way to celebrate a birthday than with a special doughnut?!

New York Distilling Company has partnered with Fan-Fan Doughnuts to create a limited-edition treat. The Blueberry Martini doughnut was created in honor of Dorothy Parker’s 129th birthday. The American poet and writer who was known for her sharp wit.

New York Distilling Company has two gins named after her: the Dorothy Parker American Gin is “a blend of traditional and contemporary botanicals including juniper, elderberries, citrus, cinnamon, and hibiscus.” The Dorothy Parker Rose Petal Flavored Gin is “a seasonal variation with a pink hue achieved through an infusion of red and pink rose petals and crushed elderberries.”

New York Distilling Company was founded by Allen Katz and Tom Potter. The Brooklyn-based distillery produces gin and whisky and whenever possible, uses New York State grown grains and sustainably produced ingredients in their spirits.

Celebrate Dorothy Parker’s birthday with a Blueberry Martini doughnut!

In a press release shared with Guilty Eats, Katz noted: “It’s exciting to be able to celebrate Dorothy Parker in such a fun and delicious way. She’s long been an inspiration of ours at the distillery, namely for her pioneering spirit and love of the drink. To be able to work with someone like Fany [Gerson] to create something to toast her legacy with was incredible. Her work is nothing short of artistry in the way she’s able to combine these flavors into something so delightful.”

Fan-Fan doughnuts, also located in Brooklyn, is an artisanal doughnut shop that opened in 2020. The shop is owned and run by James Beard-nominated pastry chef and cookbook author Fany Gerson. The shop celebrates diversity by making small-batch doughnuts using unique global ingredients. Cardamom-vanilla rolled sugar doughnuts, White Coffee, Mango Lassi and Ringo Miso, a miso cider doughnut, are just a sampling of the flavors of doughnuts you may find at the shop. In honor of National Tequila Day, Fan-Fan created their first boozy doughnut, the Citrus Fizz.

The Blueberry Martini doughnut is the newest addition to their boozy doughnut series. It’s made using both New York Distilling’s Dorothy Parker American Gin and Dorothy Parker Rose Petal Flavored Gin along with flavors of blueberry and lemon. It is topped with gin-marinated blueberries. The doughnut is available now through the end of the month and costs $5.

This doughnut collaboration sounds amazing and I wish that I lived close enough to be able to try it!
