We have exciting news foodie fans! The Great American Recipe will be back with even more home cooks sharing their family’s recipes.

After a brilliant and heartwarming first season, is it any surprise that many of us were rooting for The Great American Recipe to get a second season. With many of us comparing it to The Great British Bake Off (also known as The Great British Baking Show) thanks to its feel good approach to a cooking competition, it just makes sense that this would be a series that drew people in.

From the very start, this was a competition that made it clear that while every cook in the kitchen may have been out to win, this was also all about forming connections and sharing a love of food. And that is what they were able to do all season long.

Now we will get to see an entirely new batch of home cooks join The Great American Recipe family with their own recipes, traditions, and stories.

The Great American Recipe has been renewed for Season 2

Following the reveal that Silvia Martinez had won the first season of the series and that her recipe for Chiles en Nogada (Stuffed Poblano Peppers in Walnut Sauce) would be the official cover recipe of the very first Great American Recipe cookbook, we eagerly waited for news about the series and future. And now we know.

According to the press release we received from PBS,

"Today PBS also announced Season 2 of the uplifting cooking competition series that celebrates the multiculturalism that makes American food unique and iconic. The second season, which will give home cooks from around the country another opportunity to showcase their beloved signature dishes, is set to premiere in Summer 2023. [Alejandra] Ramos will once again host, and chefs [Leah] Cohen, [Tiffany] Derry and [Graham] Elliot will return as judges. Production for Season 2 of the show, which is co-produced by VPM and Objective Media Group America (an All3Media America company), is scheduled to begin in Fall 2022."

So not only will the show be back for more amazing recipes and feel good stories, but we will also be getting the same judges and host. All of which is exciting news.

We loved everything that Ramos, Cohen, Derry, and Elliot brought to the table as host and judges. And it will be nice to see these four bringing that same level of passion, love, and appreciation for flavors and culture to the kitchen once more.
