Of all the classic fast food sandwiches, none might be more iconic than the Big Mac at McDonald’s. The Whopper and the 732 variations it comes in may be pretty popular but for most people, when you say name a fast food sandwich, they’re going to say the Big Mac.
And for the majority of the time the Big Mac has been on the McDonald’s menu it has remained unchanged. Other then offering different sizes at one time a Big Mac is still essentially the same sandwich it has always been since 1968.
So when the chain offered a Chicken Big Mac in England earlier this year, fans kind of freaked out. A new version of the classic burger? With chicken instead of beef? Where the heck was this when the Great Chicken Sandwich Wars were raging a few years ago?
The Chicken Big Mac is only available at McDonald’s in the Miami, Florida area.
The Chicken Big Mac was a massive hit in England (as well as Australia in 2017) so it was only a matter of time until it made its way to the United States. And according to the Washington Post, that is exactly what is happening.
They are reporting that the Chicken Big Mac will be going through a test run in the Miami, Florida area later this month. And every indication is that fans are already pretty excited to get their hands on one.
So what is a Chicken Big Mac? It is everything you love about a Big Mac except the two beef patties have been replaced with chicken patties. Yes, it really is that simple. Makes you wonder why it took so long for McDonald’s to come up with the idea and get it into the hands of the customers.
The Post is also reporting that there is every chance that if the reception to the Chicken Big Mac is anything like the company saw in England, it could be fast tracked end up on menus nationwide sooner rather than later.
