When is the McRib returning to McDonald’s?
By D. Goodman
You can be relatively sure that when McDonald’s first introduced the McRib sandwich in 1981, they had no clue what was to come. Because over the years the sandwich has gone from marketing flop to an almost cult-like status among the McDonald’s faithful.
For those that might be blissfully unaware, the McRib is a seasoned boneless pork patty shaped like a rack of ribs that has been covered in BBQ sauce and topped with onions and dill pickles. All of that goodness is then put on a homestyle bun and viola! You have a McRib.
What makes the McRib so special is that it is only available for a limited time at the fast food chain. There are websites and blogs aplenty that chart every move of the sandwich and lets fans know when McRib season has arrived.
And if we follow past trends, we may have a clue for exactly when the McRib window will be open this year.
The McRib is only available at McDonald’s for a super limited time.
According to Mashed, normally the McRib arrives in the fall sometime around late October or, as it’s better known, Halloween. However, the last few years have been anything but normal.
Last year McDonald’s waited until November 1 to bring the McRib back to celebrate its birthday. In 2020 the sandwich didn’t return until well into December due to pandemic related issues. The two years prior to that however, the fan-favorite returned right on schedule in October.
With supply chain issues getting better by the day and the worst of the pandemic hopefully over, it’s safe to assume that things should be back on schedule for the McRib to make its glorious return right in time for trick or treating season.
With McDonald’s always saying that the McRib will be back “while supplies last” that means you should have about two months of pork bliss before it vanishes once again. Honestly it’s kind of like the Great Pumpkin of fast food sandwiches. So enjoy while you can.
