As part of their limited edition launch of the Game Day Dippers, Town House Crackers has partnered with Desmond Howard to make magic happen. It is all about elevating those tailgating parties to a whole new level.

And while we talked about how these crackers can make any game day even more fun, thanks to their unique shape, Howard is helping to take snacking to the next level. But what does that mean?

When you pick up specially marked boxes of Town House Game Day Dippers, you will find a chance to win a “Fan Cave Makeover” worth $10,000. And not only that, but you will also find suggestions from Desmond Howard himself about what to dip your crackers in and even some of his dipping techniques to make game day snacking even better.

We also had the opportunity to talk to Howard about his partnership with Town House, as well as who we should be looking out for this football season, and even the cooking competition he watches and might want to be a part of.

Guilty Eats: I wanted to know what inspired you to work with Town House on their new Game Day Dippers.

Desmond Howard: “Well this is the perfect combination. Like I have a strong passion for football and nothing goes better with football than tailgating. They go hand-in-hand. And Town House came up with these Game Day Dippers and they are amazing. Because they still have the same great Town House texture and classic flavor, but they’re shaped like little footballs. So these little things they can elevate anybody’s tailgating to the next level. I mean, every tailgate will seem like a touchdown.

And you have to go out and get them now though, while supplies last although they just started in August. When you go get your boxes make sure you check the back of the box, because they’re specially marked boxes, and these specially marked boxes give you a chance to win the ultimate fan cave makeover.

Also, there are three different dipping techniques that you will learn and also I have four recipes that you can use. One because I’m a hummus guy, I love hummus, it’s called the homemade halftime hummus and I love hummus on my Game Day Dippers.”

GE: I saw you had those dips and I was going to ask you, what was it about the flavors that make them your ultimate tailgating dips?

DH: “Well, that’s a good question. So like I said for one of them, I love hummus, I’m a huge hummus fan, and I love Greek food and maybe one of my favorites is Greek food. So I also have the Undefeated Feta Dip. So a feta cheese, and obviously, I like spicy. So I have a jalapeno cheese dip called the First Down Jalapeno Cheese Dip. They’re all centered around different things. Some people don’t like it spicy, so then you may just get a homemade Halftime Hummus or you may do the Undefeated Feta Dip so I gave you four different options based on different tastes most people have.”

GE: So what is your favorite game day food, the one you have to have every time?

DH: “Outside of my Town House Game Day Dippers it would probably be some sort of wings. I don’t like everyone’s hot wings or buffalo wings. I really don’t because oftentimes, people just drown them in hot sauce and think it tastes good. Like I can’t eat everybody’s hot wings, whatever they call them. I like the skin crispy. Like the skin can’t be rubbery. I think people that just cook them and they just douse them in hot sauce and think oh, these are great. I’m like, No, those are horrible. It’s terrible. That’s awful. You get kicked off of Chopped for that.

I fancy myself a sous chef in training. I know I’m not an executive chef, but I’m striving for sous chef level style. You know, I stay in my lane and I love cooking. I like cooking shows I like competitive cooking shows. Not the How-To cooking shows, but I like the competitive cooking shows so I can talk to you about food and cooking all day.”

GE: What is your favorite competitive cooking show?

DH: “Iron Chef. I like the original Iron Chef before they came to America. This is when it was, I think it was a Japanese show. And it was like an old Japanese movie, meaning that there was like the voices that never matched the mouth movements.

I do appreciate the American version too. But yeah, I go way back in the day with Iron Chef.”

GE: Would you ever want to be on one of these culinary competitions?

DH: “I would absolutely love to be on one, probably more so as a judge, but if I got there and I saw how everything worked and all the moving parts, I may compete as an actual cook too, but I will have to see how everything works first. But I could definitely be there as a judge because you know, if you’re going to have a competition, it could be a Beat Bobby Flay, it could be Chopped, it could be whatever, but you always need some judges.”

GE: This one is for our football fans. Who are we paying attention to this football season?

DH: “You know, some of the off the radar picks, I picked Texas A&M. They’re the Aggies. I picked them to be a team to actually win it all. Another team to watch is Baylor and the head coach Dave Aranda is a really good coach. I think they’re going to win the big 12 and anytime you win your conference, you stand a strong chance of actually making it to the college football playoff.

And another team is Pitt. They play this Thursday against West Virginia, which is gonna be a great game. They call that game, the backyard brawl. So keep an eye out for Pitt. They lost a lot of talent from a year ago, especially the quarterback, Kenny Pickett. But they replaced him with another quarterback named Kedon Slovis who used to play USC and who I think is more than capable.

You’ve got Michigan. This is a team that this time a year ago, people thought that they would finish fourth in their division. They ended up making it to the college football playoff a year ago. They lost both of their coordinators. But they still, I think they stand a strong chance of making it to the college football playoff again too. So keep an eye on those teams Michigan, Baylor, Pitt and Aggies – Texas A&M.”

GE: Finally, I have to ask because we are Guilty Eats what is your guilty eat?

DH: “Man, that’s a good question. I don’t know if I have one. Like, I have a sweet tooth. And I think everything is cool in moderation. I really do. So I have a sweet tooth. I workout and take care of my body. I eat healthy, but I do have a sweet tooth.

I will say with Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, would that qualify as a guilty eat?”

GE: Oh yeah!

DH: “Okay, well Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. I don’t indulge often. Thank God. There’s not one that’s really close by but I will say I do have a sweet tooth. And every now and then, if I’m passing by a Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and the red light is on, that hot now light is on, I will do a U-turn.”
