Great Chocolate Showdown was back on The CW for episode 4 of season 3 and the challenges were not what you might expect. It was all about pasta and brunch this week. Not exactly two themes that scream chocolate.

The episode started off with pastry chef Anna Olson showing the bakers how to make different kinds of chocolate pasta. That then led to the technique test where the final seven were tasked with making a chocolate pasta dish. They could make any type of pasta they wanted but it had to have chocolate in the dough.

The whole idea of this challenge sounded awful. Chocolate and pasta together?? No thanks. But what the bakers created looked truly delicious.

And as with past episodes this season, the judges would only be tasting some of the dishes. In this episode, they only tasted four and two of those bakers would get immunity.

This week’s Great Chocolate showdown was all about pasta and brunch desserts

So who came out on top for this challenge? This time it was Gavin with his amazing black cocoa cannelloni and Amber with her gorgeous chocolate-striped ravioli with mascarpone filling.

On to the elimination challenge! This week, the bakers had to choose a brunch dish and then make it their own by adding in the flavors of their favorite childhood dessert. There were some truly tasty-looking desserts made in this challenge.

But two bakers really shined and they were Lexi and Bri. I would die to taste either of these desserts. Lexi made cinnamon roll crepes and Bri made the most delicious-looking lemon meringue pie tart with a chocolate crust. I may have been drooling while I watched.

Unfortunately, there were also two bakers that didn’t do as well. The bottom two were Maile and Connie and unfortunately, Connie was the one to go home this week.

Next week, the remaining six bakers will have to team up and make an anti-gravity cake (yikes!), and then create two chocolate desserts for a tea party.
