What we know about the next season of Great British Baking Show

The time has finally come! The Great British Baking Show is coming back for season 13! It’s been a little under a year since season 12 became available on Netflix, but it feels like it’s been forever since we were able to take a peak into the tent and hang out with Paul, Prue, Noel, and Matt.

The baking competition show will start airing on Channel 4 in the UK on Tuesday, Sept 13, 2022. This season, as usual, features 12 new bakers and that includes Abdul, an electronic engineer, Dawn, an IT specialist, Janusz who makes recipes inspired by his native Poland, and Syabira who puts her Malaysian heritage into her bakes.

The bakers will compete in different challenges over the course of 10 weeks until the final three show off everything they’ve learned in the finale.

But while the bakers will be new, the judges will be the same. Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith will be back to judge the soggy bottoms, the amazing sweet showstoppers, and the handshake-worthy bread loaves.

The hosts will also be the same as last season. Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas will be the comedic duo that will take the bakers (and us) through each challenge. Who knows what unique outfits Noel will wear this season? Fans anticipate his fashion almost as much as they do the creations the contestants make.

The question is: when will the show make it to the US? Hopefully, since the show is airing on a Tuesday in the UK, it will be available to stream on Netflix by that Friday. I can’t imagine they will make us wait until the series is over in the UK. It would be very difficult to keep the winner a secret, especially on social media. So keep your fingers crossed and let’s hope Netflix announces the actual release date soon.
