And while there are certainly any number of ways to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, we can’t help but turn to food to at least feel a small bit of connection to the late monarch.
For us that also means finding something that might be readily available in the United States. And that is where cereal comes into the picture.
So not only did we learn that cereal was part of the Queen’s breakfast routine, but we now know which cereal she ate.
Queen Elizabeth II was a fan of an American cereal brand
According to MyLondon News, the cereal that Queen Elizabeth would enjoy to start her day was actually Kellogg’s Special K. And at times, she would jazz up her bowl of cereal with some fresh fruit.
"Special K was introduced by Kellogg’s in the US in 1955, early in the Queen’s reign, and has seen its global popularity grow in the 67 years since. The company was given a royal warrant many years ago and is an official supplier to Buckingham Palace. Although Special K may be the Queen’s favourite cereal there are also other breakfast delicacies that the monarch has a soft spot for."
Over the years, Special K has certainly found a way into many homes, especially in the U.S., and as they have expanded their offerings to include cereals with fruit pieces included, the brand has made itself a staple of many a breakfast lover. But to know that the Queen herself was actually a fan of the brand has us thinking that perhaps as we say goodbye to the iconic woman we can grab a bowl of Special K, add some fresh fruit to the top, and enjoy breakfast like a royal.
