Editor’s Note: While it was initially reported that following Queen Elizabeth II’s death, The Great British Bake Off (GBBS) might be delayed, according to the series’ social media accounts the series will in fact premiere as scheduled.

It looks like fans of soggy bottoms and Hollywood Handshakes will have to wait a little longer to get their Great British Bake Off fix.

Season 13 of the iconic baking competition was set to debut on Tuesday, September 13 in England and then premiere on Netflix the following Friday as The Great British Baking Show. However, all that will now change due to real world events.

It is being reported by Mashed that with the passing of Queen Elizabeth II this past week, the entire country of Britain will join in 10 days of mourning for the loss of their beloved monarch. This means that all television channels will be airing nothing but information about the Queen’s passing for roughly the next week and a half.

No news on exactly when Season 13 of The Great British Bake Off will debut.

Tributes to the late Queen have been all over social media, with both Paul Hollywood and Noel Fielding posting messages on their Instagram accounts. Additionally, former host Sue Perkins also posted a touching tribute on her Twitter account as did Gordon Ramsay.

Currently it isn’t known exactly when the new season of Bake Off will arrive, much less when it will turn up on Netflix. Given that after the 10 days are over there is still the coronation of King Charles III that has to happen, fans could be in for a bit of a wait.

However, you can rest assured that Season 13 will air at some point. We all just might have to wait a little bit before we see that first Showstopper Challenge of the year.
