M&Ms adds new character, meet Purple

Which M&M color is your favorite? By now, we all know the colors that make up M&M’s colorful rainbow. Well, it’s time to make room for another! For the first time in a decade, the chocolate brand has added a brand new character, Purple. But it won’t be joining the bags of candy. We explain, below!

Now, the color purple is a favorite to many, so I’m surprised there wasn’t already a Purple character! If purple is your favorite color, I imagine you are particularly happy about the news, I bet!

On Sept. 28, the brand announced their new character (and spokescandy), Purple. But when will we be able to enjoy this new color, if at all?

M&Ms adds Purple character

You know M&Ms does nothing without meaning behind it. So why the color purple and what does it represent? According to the brand, the newest member of the M&Ms family stands for self-expression, acceptance, inclusivity, and confidence. Purple is quirky and charming. Purple joins Yellow, Red, Green, Orange, Blue, and Brown, but only as a “spokescandy,” and not actual candy.

Can you buy the Purple M&MS?

Unfortunately, no. Bags of M&Ms will remain the same, fans will continue to see red, orange, green, blue, yellow, and brown in M&Ms bags. Purple is only joining the brand’s advertising campaigns and promotions. I know, I was disappointed to learn the full details, too.

While we do love what Purple represents and brings to the table, we do wish Purple joined the bags of delicious chocolate pieces! Perhaps in the near future. In the meantime, we look forward to checking out the campaigns and promotions Purple will be taking on.
