When it comes cooking competitions, Bobby Flay brings the heat. But in Bobby’s Triple Threat, it’s up to his Titans to conquer the kitchen.

In the second episode of Bobby’s Triple Threat, it’s the Titans Vs Kevin Tien. And for those unfamiliar with Tien, he is a James Beard nominated chef who has done his fair share of competitive cooking. And for those in the DC area, he is the Executive Chef of Moon Rabbit, a Vietnamese eatery known for elevated breakfasts and even brunch and dinner menus that are next level.

For the first round of the competition, the ingredients that need to be a star are prawns and soy sauce. And Chef Tien decided that the titan he wanted to take on for this challenge was Michael Voltaggio. With 40 minutes on the clock, it should be interesting to see what they decide to cook up.

For the judging this time, Chris Scott was the judge and once again it is a blind tasting. And off the bat it is clear that this is not going to be an easy judge to please. In fact when it comes to actually getting the scores, Chef Voltaggio earned just 7 points, while Kevin Tien earned an impressive 9 points.

Bobby’s Triple Threat brings Kevin Tien into the kitchen to take on the titans

In round two, the dishes the chefs make must include sweet potatoes and molasses. And this time  Chef Tien chose Brooke Williamson as his titan to beat.

Going into this round, our challenger’s lead definitely means that the titans have a bit more to prove this go around. But Chef Williamson isn’t letting anything stop her from proving that not only is she a titan, but she can cook anything thrown her way. Perhaps the biggest hurdle for both chefs in this round is the clock.

Brooke’s dishes were judged first and the comments her dishes got were definitely amazing. Then it was time for Kevin’s dishes, and while he got some good comments from Chris Scott, there were some negatives as well. This time our titan earned 9 points, while Chef Tien earned just 6 points.

Heading into the final round of Chef Kevin Tien against Chef Tiffany Derry, our challenger had 15 points to the titans 16 points. And for this round the ingredients are lime leaves and condensed milk, which Chef Tien chose. This is a double points round so it is truly anyone’s game.

While our challenger knew exactly what he wanted to make in this round, for Chef Derry it was definitely more of a challenge than even we expected. But we never count her out and she brought her skills to the table in a big way. The big question was is it enough.

Up first it was Kevin Tien’s dish, and the judging was surprising, with Chris Scott finding it a bit too sweet. When it came to Tiffany Derry’s dish, the reaction was a bit better, but there was a criticism in terms of her protein.

So who will win? Will it be the titans or Chef Kevin Tien. For the final round the scores were, Chef Tien with 13 points and our titan earning 18 points. This meant a final score of 34 to 28 in favor of the titans.

Once again it was Bobby’s titans earning the win in three rounds. And we can’t wait to see who they take on next.
